A Card A Day In May

I decided to participate in “A Card A Day In May” Kevin Theesen a fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is hosting this event on facebook, anyone can join. You aren’t required to do everyday and you can always play catch-up. Each day has a theme or color combination or a sketch to follow, it’s a fun month. So I hope to share with you everyday what I create for it. There won’t be any rhyme or reason as to what stamp set and stuff I am using, just having fun and creating cards.

Today’s theme was Birthday, so since I had the Thankful Garden out, I used that one and let me tell you, my masking was way better today than on Monday. Here is what I am talking about.

I stamped the flower in Memento Black ink and I stamped 2 of them. There is a die to cut out the entire flower and then a die to cut out the group of the 3 flowers at the bottom and the rest I fussy cut and added pop dots to them and attached to the large flower. Masking went better this time, maybe the color combination or just the fact that I have done it twice! I will keep trying, it does make a statement on the flowers.

The base of the card is Azure Afternoon followed by Shy Shamrock that was ran through the Big Shot using the Eyelet 3D embossing folder. The flower was stamped in Memento Black ink and the colors used are the same as card stock. I used Thankful Garden stamp set bundle, it has dies and masks to make the flowers come to life. I used the two-tone sparkle gems and wink of Stella to add sparkle. Finally I used the Say Something Ephemera pack and lots of pop dots all over.

Supplies: Thankful Garden bundle, Azure Afternoon, Shy Shamrock & Basic White card stock. Azure Afternoon, Shy Shamrock ink pads, Memento Black ink, Blending Brushes, Two-Tone Sparkle Gems, Wink of Stella & Pop Dots.

Adding Layers

I am trying a new technique, well at least new to me, as I have never try it myself. I am using Thankful Garden bundle that is an on-line exclusive and it has masks! I have watched other people make beautiful cards using the masks so I figure it was time to play along! I wanted to Moody Mauve one last time before it official retires on May 5th. I stamped the flowers in Momento black ink and then got out the blending brushes.

A few tips I can tell you is mark your notch, it makes it a whole lot easier to line up the images. I used post-it flags to get the paper secured. I did brush off a little bit of the ink before I started on the image, you are building layers, so the lighter the better. You can always go back and add more color when you are done. There are dies for this set, so you don’t have to fussy cut, I almost got the flower lined up perfect, almost!

The base of the card is Moody Mauve, followed by another layer and the designer series paper is Everyday Skies 6×6, then the flower using Moody Mauve and Old Olive inks. Finally some Starburst Sequins, I know the color is Fresh Freesia but in real life they look great on the card, just a little off in the picture.

Supplies: Thankful Garden stamp set, Moody Mauve, Basic White card stock, Memento Black Ink, Moody Mauve, Old Olive inks, Everyday Skies designer series paper, Starburst Sequins, Blending Brushes & pop dots

Keep In Touch

Following Monday’s path, I am using Frames & Flowers ds paper and Pattern of Friendship stamp set. The stamp set is an online exclusive and available now for purchase.

Keeping it simple is my favorite way to go! This card is exactly that, the flowers from the designer series paper help with that a bunch!

The base of the card is Petal Pink followed by a layer of Pretty Peacock that has pop dots on it. Next is a piece of designer series paper, a strip of Pretty Peacock that is 3/4” x 3 3/4”. For the flowers it is 3 separate pieces from the die cuts, I used glue dots to adhere them together. Below is a picture of the ones that I used.

Supplies: Pattern of Friendship stamp set, Petal Pink, Pretty Peacock & Basic White card stock, Pretty Peacock ink, Frames & Flowers Specialty Designer Series Paper, Pop dots, glue dots & Low Profile dots.
